Eco House and Garden at Kimbriki Resource Recovery Centre - Terrey Hills (Sydney)

A very comfortable compost toilet block with nicely curved strawbale walls and plenty of creative details has been build at the centre in 2010. Click here for more info and photos.

We have endeavoured to answer the most frequently asked questions in regards to strawbale construction here. However, please be welcome to contact us with your personal enquiry. We also provide consultancy services to help with your individual project.
 
Workshops
We run strawbale building & rendering workshops and working bees throughout the year.
Our working bees are usually free of charge for participants and provide the opportunity to gain hands on experience at a current building site.
Our teaching workshops include daily theory sessions, slides & videos, expert guest speakers on related topics, access to a large variety of related books and magazines, comprehensive hand-outs and some hands-on experience.
Next events:
2012
Two 5 day wall raising working bees at Dungog, Hunter Valley, NSW. From Wednesday the 16th ot Sunday the 20th of May and from Wednesday the 23rd to Sunday the 27th of May 2012 for a pavilion style strawbale family home on a 250 acre property. Registrations are now open for these exciting events.

A 5 day wall and roof raising workshop was held there in April 2012 with us as facilitators, and it rained and it rained and it rained but all was good at the end   .

All SB walls went up, were pre-compressed & trimmed and first coat of lime render was sprayed onto external walls - all of this over 4 busy days - a fantastic achievement, only possible with the help of a great bunch of volunteers THANK YOU ALL.

Condor MPS 303 Mortar Mix Pump and Spray Rig

The Condor MPS303 (Mix-Pump-Spray) is considered to be "state of the art" mortar application equipment.
It is powered by a 13hp Briggs & Stratton petrol engine. The stainless steel mixer has a capacilty of 120 litres and the pump has an output variable to 1.75 cubic metres per hour, however, the pumping rate can be varied to suit the job, materials and skills of operators.
The twin body is designed to mix in one compartment whilst pumping from the other. The machine is suitable for application of clay and lime render mixes and individual aggregate particles of up to 10 mm are managed by the equipment. It comes with a stainless steel spray gun and plenty of 38mm high burst material delivery lines.
