Bungendore

Bungendore, NSW, near Canberra.

Wall raising has commenced for this post & beam structure of about 100 square metres. The garage is built on a concrete slab, has a steel shed frame with wrap around verandas/carport. Our involvement in this project includes, consultancy, facilitation of the wall raising working bee, supply of rendering needs?and (spray) rendering to completion.

Steel posts have been wrapped in hessian to avoid condensation leaking into bales.

Note the high gable ends of about 4 metres are also stacked with bales; a hard to reach place and a somewhat time consuming detail as bales need to be fitted into the sloping corners.

Walls are nearly ready.

All strawbale walls and the first coat of sprayed clay render were completed in 5 (long) days. Three of these days hosted a wall raising working bee. The building will be used as guest room/study (with shower and toilet), garage and carport. Openings include two french doors. A 200 square metre strawbale family home is also being built at the same time by the owner builders. The clay used here has been supplied by our company.?

This cute strawbale cubby house was also built during the working bee. It was the most kids welcoming and friendly working bee we have ever been part of and it worked really well.

First coat of clay render has been completed.
